The blog (and the house, hubby and kids) have taken a back seat this week to Elle’s bedroom. I am obsessed with transforming her little girl space into her pre-teen space and I want to do nothing else but redecorate. I have paint samples all over the walls, mirrors and hooks to be hung, and 1 or 4 DIY projects. I have been to hardware stores, antique stores, home decor stores and craft stores and I’ve loved every minute of it. I am a wanna be interior decorator.
Elle has loved Paris ever since she was little. She wants to go there on her mission; plus her name is French, so we are going with a Paris motif. But not in a hot pink / black / diva sort of way. But in, what I like to call, a “natural glam” sort of way with just a few Eiffel Towers about to make a subtle reference to Paris.
I hope to juxtapose the natural of woods and fibers with the glam of glitter and glass. We are going with all neutrals- creams, browns, blacks, grays and metals. The interest will come in the variety of textures and textiles– everything from burlap to gold to crystal to lace.
Here is a sneak peak of what I have in the works for Elle’s new room:
The only real color will be on the walls. I want a pale blush color. I am leaning towards Ballet Slipper Pink by Martha Stewart. (This swatch is too pink; it is much peachier in real life):
I raided my MIL sewing scraps and have been cutting and ironing fabric scraps to make my own version of this darling fabric banner to hang across Elle’s drapes and window:
We got this IKEA chandelier installed this weekend. Chad has only hit his head once (or twice) on it.
I have my SIL adding lace to Elle’s old dust ruffle to help feminize the room:
I am still trying to decide between the Mist or the Rose Sienna Wool Rug from Dash and Albert and what size to get:
I’ve got burlap and cork boards to make Elle some picture display boards . They will look similar to this:
Now if my kids just didn’t need to eat, sleep, poop or play, I could make some real progress. I hope the room looks as great in real life as it does in my head. And I promise I will be back to a parenting blog tomorrow.
That all looks so pretty!!
Tiffany, you are amazing! I look forward to reading your blog every day. Thanks for the tips and the inspiration!
Don’t lose the creative juices when you are done with this room please:)
Sincerely,
A Woman in Desperate need of redecorating/decorating in genreal in her house.

The guilt just set in… I better get off the computer and get working on that dust ruffle!
I like Siena best! 🙂
So fun! When I’m rich I’m hiring you to do my house!
