Disney Dollars
On our drive home from Disneyland, my husband asked me what my favorite part of the trip was. Upon reflection, I realized that one of my favorite parts was our money system that we used. We called it “Disney Dollars”.

My kids have been fighting like cats and dogs for a while now and it drives me crazy. We were headed out on a 12 hour car ride and I wanted to deter the fighting. I went back into the archives of my childhood and pulled out an idea that my mom did with us on one of our trips- she paid for peace.
April Fools’ Day isn’t even on my radar until I wake up that day and try to throw something together. It is not my favorite holiday and I don’t like pranks, but this year my kids have been reminiscing about what I did last year. The giggles and sparkly eyes, as they’ve remembered last year, are motivation for me to come up with something for this year.
We drove to Disneyland recently and I copied my childhood memory of my family’s one and only trip to Disneyland. Now this trip was in the days before car DVDs and iPods and my mom had 7ish kids so this idea was a survival tool. I thought she was a genius then and now I do the same thing for my kids on long car rides because I enjoyed it so much:
I hope to work in some healthy food choices on a day filled with Lucky Charms, chocolate gold coins, Rolos, green shamrock waffles, and green buttermilk syrup. I did these rainbow fruit kabobs last year and they were a big {healthy} hit.
There is much to be done to prepare for St. Patrick’s Day around here. I use any holiday as an excuse to have some fun and show my kids a little extra love. Here’s what is up for tonight:
