Family Service

We took our April Service Saturday on the road to Lander, Wyoming where my little ol’ granny lives.  She fell a month ago and broke her wrist, hurt her rotator cuff and strained her groin.

See, she really is little.  This is my brother and his wife and baby, and they went a couple of weekends before us to help her out too.  They were smart and got a picture with her.  We, on the other hand, didn’t.

After lots of eating and some intense games of dominoes, we finally got around to some service.  We washed her windows and cleaned her window sills.

We also cleaned up the neighbor’s dog and rabbit poop from my grandma’s yard.

We were so glad to be able to help our grandma.  She loved her sparkley windows, but I think she loved our company more.

We also served at the cemetery this month since it was the anniversary of my nephew’s death.

Our service can be described with one word: WEEDING

Of course we had more help then just our little family: aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents….  Even Chad’s brother and his little family came to help.

My mom pulled the cancer card and got off the hook from weeding.  She snuggled baby Swede instead.

There was way more to be weeded at the cemetery, but at least now a few flower beds look nice.

As we served my grandma and my sister this month, I thought a lot about the purpose of families.  And I believe that God sent us to families so that we would learn how to love, forgive, accept and serve one another.

  1. I had no idea I was going to be in that picture when you took it. I thought you were zoomed in on the other group… Lovely. 🙂

  2. I so appreciate you beautifying my neck of the woods. What a cute little Grandma you have.
