Cleaning the Church

For our first “Service Saturday” we were off at 9:00 am to clean our local church with a couple of other families. I gotta admit, I was not looking forward to it. I wanted to spend the morning cleaning my own house because my day was packed with other activities, and I wasn’t sure when I would get to my own mess. But like I tell my kids, “Sometimes you gotta do what you don’t wanna do because it’s the right thing to do.” And although service is rarely convenient, it is good for our character. I sucked it up, put a smile on my face, and we headed off. My kids were troopers and they all pitched in:

Elle washed windows. (Is there anything more fun for a kid that squirting window cleaner?)

Crew and his buddy, Jared, cleaned bathrooms, dusted, and had a little fun on their air guitars. ( I figured Crew couldn’t do any permanent damage with a feather duster.)

Fancy Croft sanitized door knobs. (Sanitized is fancy for ‘killed germs’.)

Locke picked up toys (that he got out.)

Dad and mom vacuumed half the time, but there is no picture to prove it.  And the other half of the time was spent monitoring and motivating and guiding the kiddos.

With all the families working hard, we were able to clean the whole building in 2 hours and we even had time to shoot hoops at the end.

I’d love to hear what service your family is doing!
