Father’s Day Gift Idea

I threw this post together like I threw this Father’s Day gift together.  But I figured someone out there, just might be as behind as me and still need an idea.

My husband loves to go to the movies- especially the ‘man’ kind.  You know where the hero should have been killed 10 minutes in with all the bombs and gun fire, but somehow he survives.  The ones where cool guys don’t look at explosions.

Personally I think action movies are ridiculous and a waste of 2 hours of my life, but on Father’s Day it really doesn’t matter what I think.  So I decided to treat my hubby to a man movie of his choice..and I would go with a smile on my face.  (I plan to give my Father-in-law the same gift, except I won’t go with him.)

I bought a plastic popcorn tub from the Target Dollar bins, a gift card to the local movie theater, peanut butter m&ms (you must try peanut butter m&ms with popcorn- like at the same time-  Your life will change), a Cherry Coke, and some yellow gift basket shred.

I  filled the bin with popped popcorn and yellow gift basket shred (one or the other would suffice) and stuffed in the props.

You could put together a stay at home movie night instead with a favorite DVD and a pack of microwave popcorn.  You would just have to find a bigger container.

If you were hoping for something more sentimental, my mother’s day gift idea would work for dad, grandpa, or father-in-law as well.  And there is still time to pull that one off too.  As long as you can think of 53 reasons you love the guy.   Maybe just lose the pink bow and go for some twine though.

Happy Father’s Day to all the great dads in my life!

  1. Tiff – I’m so glad I logged onto facebook before I left to run errands today. I was headed to cinemark to get my dad a gift card for fathers day. Now I can make it more sentimental and like I put some thought into it 🙂

Also, I just wanted to tell you that I did that mothers day gift idea for my Mom for mothers day. I only did 26 letters though (I did it while sitting in the NICU with Carson) So she has one to open up every other Sunday for the whole year. My Mom needs sweet little love notes right now, because she doesn’t have a husband and she’s super lonely. She needs a lift, and I thought this would be the perfect way. So far they have totally made her day. So thank you. I have used so many of your ideas.
