Words and Water

A couple of years ago my sister came over to my house in the wee hours of the morning because my water just broke and we needed someone to stay with the other three kids while we headed to the hospital.  I remember saying as I walked out the door, “I am so excited!”  And she said, “To have a new little baby?”  And I replied, “No, to get a new water mug!”

I love my water mug.  Like, really love it.  And I love it even more since I have personalized it.  Here is what it looks like:

Yes, those are words all over it- positive, happy, uplifting words- written in sharpie.

The theory goes back to a Japanese scientist named Masuru Emoto who studied the effects music and words had on water crystals.  He noted that water crystals actually changed formation depending on what words they were exposed to.  Uplifting words made beautiful symmetrical crystals, while mean words left water crystals incomplete and disjointed and ugly. This YouTube video shows some of the pictures of the various crystals.

My friend has studied this theory substantially and she suggested I write uplifting words on my water jug so that the positive word vibrations could seep into my water and then I would get to drink all that goodness into my body.

Elle and I are testing this theory for her science fair experiment this year. She wrote good words on one bag and mean words on another bag and stuck a cup of rice in each one. She is observing each day to see if there will be any differences in the two bags of rice.

Do I sound like a coo-coo to you? Probably, but think about?  What do I have to lose?  What does it hurt to write a few words on my water jug?  If it doesn’t work, I am just a weird blogger that you make fun of with your SILs.  And if it does work,  I have more hope, joy, gratitude and love in my life.
