About a year and a half ago we moved to a beautiful mountain valley. We are surrounded by the Wasatch mountain range to the west, including Mount Timpanogos, and the Uintah mountain range to the east.
On the local Facebook page someone wrote: “If you’re lucky enough to live in the mountains, you’re lucky enough.”
It was the first time I’d heard that phrase, and it got me thinking of all the different ways I am lucky enough:
If you’re lucky enough to be able to park your car in a garage in the winter, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to have someone to snuggle, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to have a washer and dryer in your house, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to have a loving spouse, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to know how to read, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to have food in a refrigerator, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to have time and means to take a hot bath, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to sleep in a bed at night, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to have your mom or dad still around, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to be someone’s mother, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to have choice in what you do in a day, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to have a friend to call, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to be missed when you are gone, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to believe in Jesus Christ, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to be able to safely take a walk down your street, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to be loved deeply by another human, you’re lucky enough.
I enjoy all of these luxuries mentioned. I’m definitely lucky enough.
In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day I’d love to keep this list going. Please share your own “If you’re lucky enough…” statement in the comments below. Let’s remind ourselves just how lucky we are.
If you are lucky enough to KNOW God loves you, you are lucky enough.

What a fun and thoughtful post for this holiday!
Great additions, DeAnn. Reading Anne Frank really woke me up to your first example. And Fast Sunday does even come close to counting as real hunger.
If you’re lucky enough to enjoy good health, you’re lucky enough.
If you’re lucky enough to have good health care, you’re lucky enough.
