One Thing I’ve Learned From Blogging

I see other blogs with hundreds of comments, and self-doubt starts to creep in. I get insecure that I am making a fool of myself or that I am wasting my time. I found my “blogging worth” getting caught up in how many Facebook likes, shares or blog comments I would receive on a post. I attached my significance to large numbers.

That Darn Thing Called Agency

NONE of us really know what we are doing in this parenting thing. Some of us think we have it figured out for a time, but we are always humbled and put in our place. Some of know we will never have it figured out, and we continually seek help and guidance. And some of us gave up years ago 🙂

I spent my Spring studying the Holy Ghost or the Holy Spirit in preparation for Girls’ Camp.
My genius brother was often my go-to when I had questions about how the Holy Ghost worked or what He did. In one of our email exchanges Scott sent me a list of all the things that the Holy Ghost DOES. Phew… Let’s just say the Holy Ghost is one busy dude!

Serve Your Sibling

I was immediately defensive. So, what? It is my fault my kids fight? Parents that have kids that don’t get along have taught them to hate each other — to be rude? Are you kidding me? I’ve done many a Family Night lesson on being kind to your siblings. We’ve read stories and scriptures and watched videos. I’ve yelled; I’ve pleaded; I’ve grounded. I have tried to teach my children to love each other and they just don’t!!!!

On Grace

Often we think of the principle of grace around Easter when Jesus’ death, resurrection and Atonement are talked about more often. But I am reminded of grace every Fall due to an insight I had on grace while I raked leaves with my children a few years ago.

Caught the Bug

The kids and I headed to my hometown in Wyoming over our Fall Break. My sister and her kids came with us. And we caught a bug. I am not talking about an insect nor am I talking about the major cough and cold that 2 of my kids came down with as if on cue that we were on vacation. Rather I am talking about geocaching.
