First Thing

Happy New Year everyone!

So we moved into a new home this weekend.  (F.Y.I. I wouldn’t recommend moving the same week as Christmas.) We are just renting it until we figure out what we are supposed to do and where we are supposed to be.

And I was just wondering, if you moved into a home what is the first thing you would do?

Well, I woke up Saturday morning after a marathon day of moving and was overwhelmed with the task that lay ahead.  My body ached and every room in our new home was packed with boxes.  My house looked like this:

As I laid in bed, not wanting to get up, I thought, “Go put a wreath on your front door and you will feel better.”  So the first thing I did was put a Command strip on my front door and hung a winter wreath.

It’s not my black door with my cute white snow wreath that I am used to, but it will work for now.

Putting the wreath up was a small “pick me up” gesture.  Sometimes all it takes is something small to energize me or help me face the task ahead . The rest of the house is a disaster but at least my front door is cute enough and my rental is starting to feel like home.

Now what should I do first thing this morning to motivate me to get out of bed and face all my boxes? Maybe I’ll start with making my bed.

  1. I second that, not a good idea to move around Christmas:) Unpacking is so much better then packing, it will go fast.. I say start with the kitchen, since that seems to be the room that the family uses most and work your way into other rooms.
