Celebrate

I don’t need much of a reason to celebrate. I am always looking for ways to make special days and memories for my children because that is what my mom did for me. She went all out for every holiday. From giant gingerbread houses at Christmas to candy bar grams on Valentine’s Day to Easter egg lessons about Christ, my mom figured out a way to make holidays fun and memorable for us. And did I mention she was a wedding planner too. I was destined to celebrate the fun parts of life.

Thanksgiving Traditions

After Thanksgiving dinner with extended family, we decided we wanted to have our own Thanksgiving dinner with our own little family. Elle wanted to actually pass food around the table (instead of buffet style). Chad wanted leftovers. And I wanted to decorate a pretty table. Plus I wanted to learn how to cook every part of the meal instead of just the side dishes that I always get assigned.…

Disneyland or Bust!

Our family is headed to Disneyland next month!!! We went about 3 years ago and left Locke home (one of the best decisions I ever made). We had a great time, but vowed we wouldn’t go back until Locke was 40″ tall and Croft was 48″ tall. Those are the two magic numbers if you want to ride the fun rides at Disneyland. Well, luckily everyone grew, so we booked our trip.…

14 LOVE Scriptures

Last year I did a 14 Days of Valentines Countdown for my hubby. And I plan to pull out the countdown again this year except I’m going to tweak it a bit. (How’s that for recycling, repurposing, and reusing!) I am going to do 14 Days of LOVE Scriptures instead. I guess you could say, I want to bring a little Saint into Saint Valentine’s Day.…

UP Teacher Appreciation Week

I’ve had a few requests to post my UP Teacher Appreciation Week from last year and I am finally getting to it. After typing all this UP, no wonder the PTA President wanted me to do Teacher Appreciation Week again this year; no wonder I had self-diagnosed adrenal fatigue for the rest of the summer; and no wonder I decided to homeschool 🙂…

Once There Was a Snowman

Elle is at that age where Halloween costumes start getting tricky, especially for girls. For many 6th grade girls, dressing up isn’t as much about being a character and having fun as it is about looking pretty or stylish or cool. And in their desire to look pretty, many girls start leaning to the sexy side of Halloween.…

Locke’s Construction Party

I got a Mac computer awhile back and have yet to feel comfortable with loading pictures on my blog with the new programs. I’ve got to face and tackle my lack of skills. So this post is an exercise in me learning to crop, edit, resize and load pictures to my blog. I decided to learn on Locke’s 4th Birthday Party because the post is mostly photo based. Locke turned 4 in August and wanted a Construction Birthday Party.…

Christmas in July

If stores can have Christmas decorations up in their store in the middle of July, then I can write a Christmas post. We will call it “Christmas in July”. I just have 3 random categories of thoughts about Christmas and I decided to share them all in one post. Hang on!…

Super Dad

Father’s Day is in just a few days! Are you ready? If not, here is a cute, sentimental idea for your “Super Dad”! You can be as simple or as elaborate as you want with this idea. Post includes a free printable Father’s Day card.…

8 Days of Cub Scouts

Crew turned 8 last month and although I’ve tried to prepare him for Baptism, I don’t think I was prepared for Cub Scouting. Holy moly — that manual is rocket science. Points and ranks and advancement and all the different animals…I can’t keep them straight. Plus I didn’t realize all the clothes / supplies the boys need to get started.…

Red, White & Blue Breakfast

I love traditions. And not because I am sentimental and nostalgic and family oriented. Rather I love traditions because I am lazy. So I decided I wanted to set a tradition for those Monday holidays where the kids are off school…like Memorial Day!…
